The A.A. Capital District Central Office Newsletter

Here's what's going on......

The A.A. General Service Office has released a new version of the AA.org website that we have been familiar with for a number of years. It looks great and is very much up to date. The "Find A.A. Near You" search option initially did not show the Capital District Central Office. That has since been corrected, however searches within Districts 13 and 3 are still displaying the old helpline telephone numbers. We're working to correct this option as well. Both District websites do show the correct helpline number: (518) 463-0906. Check this great new website out at: https://www.AA.org

NENY Area 48 is sponsoring Orientation Day on January 15th. If you are a GSR, you will find the event extremely valuable. If you are an A.A. Group trusted servant, or have an interest in learning more about service, you are more than welcome to participate. Check the link out below.

Speaking of NENY Area 48, The complete 2022 Area Events Calendar has been released and is available on the Area website.

Virtual - For all A.A. Group Meetings that are solely virtual, please consider becoming part of the new District 20. Cathy P is DCM and she is joined by a great team of district members. You will not be disappointed. This is a new concept for a changing world and District 20 is out in front.

NERAASA 2022 is still on, in-person. The bus trip is no longer happening, however. There has been some talk about other methods of getting to the event. Please attend you very next district meeting to see if there is interest in any sort of vehicle sharing.

Hopefully, next month we'll add the CDCO Newsletter editor email so you can more easily register you complaints - and other comments.

Please consider sharing this newsletter with a friend. Just forward the email.

We're calling it a Public Information Success

TU Campaign
District 1 ran a campaign this holiday season between December 24th – January 3rd. The objective was to carry the message to persons having difficulty not drinking- during, what for many, can be a stressful time.

A banner was placed in the digital version of the Albany Times Union and it included the A.A. Helpline number as well as a “click here” option. The ”click here” brought the reader to a special “You can stay Sober” landing page on the CDCO website.

We recorded 42 visits to the special landing page. The Central Office also handled 17 “First Time” callers during this period. If the message was carried to just one of these readers we would all be grateful.

In any case, we’re calling it a success and want to extend our thanks to District 1 Public Information and our CDCO secretary for their service.
We have that book .... the one you've been looking for.
To help carry the message to the alcoholic, the CDCO has a wide variety of books and pamphlets published by A.A. World Services, books published by the A.A. Grapevine, monthly and annual medallions, and recovery greeting cards, all located at our office in Albany, NY! We accept Credit Cards, Cash, or Check.

Please.... Try to remember to bring your own bag when picking up your items.

Interesting fact

The Alcathon page of our website was the most heavily visited page during December.

Thanks to those districts and meetings which were able to host an Alcathon this year.

The CDCO Monthly Reports:

Each month the Central Office publishes its operating reports. These include our financial report, meeting minutes, our literature report, and call reports relating to the volume, location, and type of calls. If you are interested, please check these out:

The CDCO is always in need of volunteers to help carry the message. You may know that we provide helpline services 24x7x365, but did you know that we are staffed entirely by A.A. volunteers? Please consider doing service in the coming year.

Our volunteers occasionally need to take time off and we could certainly use some backups to answer the phone in the evening, or pitch in at the CDCO during office hours.
