AA History/Service Workshop Planning

The District 1 Functions Committee is looking for members to step up to assist with our upcoming, October 23rd event — the Eastern Cluster AA History/Service Workshop.
We’re very excited to bring this speaker (who’s a longtime AA archivist with a wealth of information) and this workshop to the Capital District.
(It’s an event that was planned for last October but, for obvious reasons, we needed to cancel it. Please scroll down further for a description.)
If you aren’t able to attend, there may be someone in your home group who’s interested.

We’ll need some members who’ll be available to help with the creation of an announcement flyer; planning for and purchasing refreshments (if permitted by the Church, in October); setup and cleanup on the day of the event.Another decision we’ll need to make is to decide if we wish our event to be strictly in-person, or hybrid.
None of these things would require a ton of time, but they’re all necessary if we wish our event to get off the ground.
This Service/History Presentation, by John B, an Area 44/Northern NJ Archivist, was planned for October of 2020… you can guess how that went down. He’s done many presentations before and we’re excited that he’s willing to drive north to offer his wealth of knowledge and experience about early time members (women and men), as well as some of AA’s early non-alcoholic friends, and their valuable contributions that continue to ensure that AA will be here for the next suffering alcoholic. So, again, the new date is October 23, 2021 at McKownville United Methodist Church, on Western Ave, just west of Stuyvesant Plaza, Westmere/Albany.
We’re using the funds ($500) contributed by the Area to the Eastern Cluster, as well as a portion of our District 1 Functions Committee budget of $400, to support this event.
As a Cluster Event, we’ve also reached out to Districts 2 and 18 for assistance.
